FACIAL PAIN

CNN story on chronic facial pain

The facial pain syndromes are a group of terrifying and disabling disorders of the nerves in the head and neck. The most well known and distressing, is Trigeminal Neuralgia.  Once known as Tic Douloureaux, it is one of the most severe and frightening pains known.  Patients with these disorders deserve a lot of compassion. The other facial pains include the following:

Atypical face pain
  Glossopharyngeal  Neuralgia
    Neuralgia secondary to Nervus Intermedius
Acute Herpes Zoster of the Trigeminal Nerve
        Post-Herpetic Neuralgia
          Burning Mouth Syndrome
            Other rare disorders

I have chosen the links above very carefully.  Each one is very complete, medically well founded and caring
in their approach.
